Can an Anxiety Counsellor help?

Treatment from an Anxiety Counsellor using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques is a highly effective approach for managing anxiety. CBT Therapy addresses anxiety by assisting you in identifying and challenging your negative thought patterns and irrational beliefs that contribute to your anxious feelings.

Its focus is on reframing these unhelpful thoughts into more balanced and realistic perspectives, while also working together to change unhelpful behaviours that hinder your personal goals and progress.

CBT Therapy is recognised for its practical approach, which include exercises such as thought journaling, challenging and disputing unhelpful beliefs, and the integration of various behavioural experiments. Additionally, there are homework assignments to complement your in-session discussions, all of which are agreed upon collaboratively.  Through CBT, you will develop tools and strategies relevant to your daily life and to effectively manage anxiety even after the treatment is completed.

A typical course of CBT Therapy consists of approximately 6 to 15 sessions but since each individual is unique, some clients may require fewer or additional sessions.  In such cases, I will assist you in determining the best way forward.  Each session is for 60 minutes and is usually scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Our anxiety counsellor sessions are available in both face-to-face and online sessions, providing flexibility to meet individual needs.  All sessions are collaborative, and I will play an active role with the aim of empowering you to gain control. Alongside encouraging you to make positive changes in your thinking and behaviours, this will develop a lasting toolkit that brings balance, happiness, and a more fulfilling life.
